Plan, yet to be a pattern, 2011

‘Plan; A drawing of diagram made to scale showing the structure or arrangement of something.’

Things I saw when I looked down from the plane, the stain on the stones, dried bubble gum on the street, the pebbles at the bottom of the lake, the complicated road system in the city etc.; there are all things that inspired me to create patterns.

Technique: Hand-printed pattern
Material: Cotton
Size: 90cm x 250cm

Based on the main idea of ‘a map’, the pattern leads the viewers go with their imagination. Where shall we go? which direction will you choose? are you getting lost? …
During the printing process, I have found that each module has asymmetrical edges which need to be concetrated for making a perfect continuity.
